Your AI on Locul
Phoenix ships the week of July 14 at $50/mo. Leading with the migration angle you flagged in your June review, in your usual plain, no-hype voice, and short enough to post before coffee.

No new app to babysit. No copy-paste tax. Locul upgrades the AI tools you already open every day.

Connects locally. Nothing leaves your machine to set it up.

What Locul does to your AI

Four upgrades. One local app.

Your AI is generic because it knows nothing about you. Here's what changes.

It builds your AI a brain from work you've already done.

Your AI tools have been writing markdown this whole time. Locul reads all of it, automatically, keeps what actually matters about you and your work, and keeps it current as you go. Your AI stops being a stranger, and never falls out of date.

How: automatic detection, on-device distillation, and self-updating memory.

It cleans up your AI setup.

See what your Claude and Codex setup actually costs you in tokens, then kill the duplicates and the unused skills and MCP servers silently bloating your context.

How: the setup auditor and usage scan.

It syncs your whole team.

Bundle one approved brain and a standard setup. Teammates subscribe in a click. Everyone levelled up, nobody copy-pasting skills and plugins between machines.

How: Company Brain and setup sharing (a self-hosted file bundle).

You decide what your AIs can see.

Control exactly what each connected tool can pull. Mark whole folders private, hide what you don't want shared. It all runs on your computer. Nothing leaves it without your say-so.

How: per-tool access rules over the local connection.
The automatic engine

It does the work you'd never do. Then it keeps doing it.

Other second brains only know what you remember to put in, and they go stale the moment you stop. Locul feeds and corrects itself.

01

It finds everything, on its own

No folder to pick. Locul automatically detects every markdown file across your computer, including everything Claude, Cursor and Codex have already written. Your whole past is on the table from day one.

02

It reads it locally, for free

On-device AI goes through thousands of files and keeps only what's worth remembering, the real facts, decisions and opinions, and drops the noise. A frontier cloud model would cost you thousands of dollars, and it wouldn't run on its own.

03

It never stops

A new markdown file shows up, it gets picked up. A new PDF shows up, it's turned into a note in the background, your original left untouched.

04

It keeps itself correct

When a newer note contradicts something it knew, it updates the old memory on its own, and keeps the previous version so you can see exactly what changed.

Contextli integration

Your spoken thinking, captured automatically.

Connect Contextli, our dictation tool, and Locul pulls in your voice notes and keeps distilling the durable ones into memories. The richest signal about how you think stops evaporating. The local model sorts the keepers from the noise.

Private by construction

Local isn't a feature. It's how the whole thing works.

Files are read where they live, the brain runs on your machine, and by default nothing is uploaded. You decide exactly what each AI can pull. The one exception, cloud AI mode, is opt-in and uses your own key.

FAQ

The questions you're already asking.

Do I have to organize anything?
No. It finds your markdown automatically. There's no folder to pick and no vault to build.
Do I have to keep feeding or updating it?
No. It tracks new files on its own and updates outdated memories when newer notes contradict them. No triggering, no upkeep, it stays current by itself.
Won't reading thousands of files cost a fortune in tokens?
No. The brain is local AI, so it costs you nothing. A frontier model would run into thousands of dollars.
Is the local model good enough?
Yes. Want frontier muscle? Cloud AI mode with your own key, off by default.
Prove it's local.
Files read in place, brain on-device, nothing uploaded. The one exception is cloud AI mode, which you turn on yourself.
Which platforms?
Mac and Windows.
What does it read?
Markdown today, and PDFs by converting them into notes automatically. More sources are coming.
Private beta

Your AI is ready to
stop being average.

Locul is in private beta. Tell us where to reach you, and we'll send your download link once it's in good shape for you.

Thanks, you're on the list. We'll email a download link to the address you gave once Locul is in good shape for you.
Something went wrong sending that. Email junaid@ertiqah.com with your email and LinkedIn and we'll add you.
We review every request by hand · on-device by default · cloud AI mode optional

P.S.  Not for you if your disk is empty, your notes live only in Notion or Google Docs, or you don't run agentic AI tools yet.
